Welcome to the 1980’s, let’s party!

Welcome to the 1980s, wastoids!

It’s a new decade, with new sounds and technology and all that jazz.

Leading off the technological revolution, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Talking Heads and even Prince. ABBA is still ABBA and Stevie Wonder is back from writing about plants. But you still have plenty of good classic rockers like the Dio-lead Black Sabbath, the Brian Johnson version of AC/DC, and the start of the new wave of British heavy metal with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest’s new sound.

This year we have, for the first time ever, Jason and Kramzer teaming up against Joe, it’s a real once in a lifetime kind of event. The winner takes it all!

The year is 1980 and we’re picking our favorite songs of the year.

It’s a simple concept. We pick five of our favorite songs that made the Billboard Top 100 (established in 1958) during any time that year. We also select five “wildcards” that can be any songs released as a single or on an album or EP that year. Finally, we also pick our “worst” song of the year, just for fun.

We started in 1958 and we’re going until we run out of years.

Standings So Far …

Jason pulled out a stunner, with XTC’s Making Plans for Nigel narrowly defeating the mighty Clash’s Train in Vain, denying Kramzer a rare back-to-back win. Joe’s odd choice of Fleetwood Mac’s What Makes You Think You’re the One earned him some respect… but not that many votes.

Joe: 11
Jason: 9.5
Kramzer: 6.5
