Songs of the Year
Songs of the Year: 2018
What’s left to say?
Well now we’ve gone completely off the rails. The 2018 Billboards were wild, and by wild I mean the worst thing imaginable. It was 99% trap or emo rap. Entire albums charted on release. Drake, Ed Sheeran and Post Malone owned the year and every other song was someone bad featuring someone worse: Bebe Rexha featuring Florida Georgia Line, Camila CAbello featuring Young Thug, Post Malone featuring 21 savage, etc, etc, and so forth.
THE RULES: It’s a simple concept. We pick five of our favorite songs that made the Billboard Top 100 (established in 1958) during any time that year. We also select five “wildcards” that can be any songs released as a single or on an album or EP that year. Finally, we also pick our “worst” song of the year, just for fun.
We started in 1958 and we’re going until we run out of years.
Standings So Far …
2017 saw Phoebe Bridgers mop the floor with The War on Drugs and Alvvays. A bit of a surprise. 2018 will see a friend of the channel go up against an indie rock favorite and a hipster’s dream.
