Songs of the Year
Songs of the Year: 2017
We dare you to pick 5 legitimately good Billboard charting songs from this year. WE DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU.
If you thought 2016 was bad, or 2015, or any other year in the history of the Billboard charts, nothing can prepare you for the wasteland that is 2017. How bad was it? The top track of the year was Ed Sheeran’s “The Shape of You”.
That bad.
You’ll have to sift through a lot of shit if you want to find songs to include on your Top 5 Billboard lists, that is if you haven’t given up already. And at this point we don’t blame you!
THE RULES: It’s a simple concept. We pick five of our favorite songs that made the Billboard Top 100 (established in 1958) during any time that year. We also select five “wildcards” that can be any songs released as a single or on an album or EP that year. Finally, we also pick our “worst” song of the year, just for fun.
We started in 1958 and we’re going until we run out of years.
Standings So Far …
There are a few constants we’ve seen throughout the series, #1 is: nominate Radiohead, win the year. Kramzer did nominate Radiohead. Kramzer did win the year.
For 2017 it’s an indie slugfest as three very different indie bands compete for the crown. A win for Joe and the series is wrapped up. Can Jason pull off a miracle? Will Kramzer continue to play spoiler?
Joe: 25
Jason: 22.5
Kramzer: 18.5
