A well balanced release day featuring buzz bands Black Country, New Road, Mitski and Animal Collective. Plus Slash, Bastille and more!

It’s February and we finally have some new releases worth getting up for.

The big drop today has to be the final(?) album from Black Country, New Road, Ants From Up There. Possibly final because frontman Isaac Wood recently announced he was walking away from the band. A shame because the new one is getting rave reviews so far.

Also on the docket is the sixth album from Mitski. Laurel Hell is her follow up to the critically acclaimed Be The Cowboy. So far, so good as far as the critics are concerned, although reviews are slightly muted compared to her last two.

Nu-metalheads can celebrate, Korn is back! Requiem is their 14th album and the whole gang is here: Jonathan Davis, “Munky”, “Head”, “Fieldy” and Ray Luzier. Reviews have been positive, and it’s only 32 minutes long.

Bastille returns with their fourth album and first since 2019’s Doom Days. Their newest, titled Give Me The Future is in a similar vein to their previous works, which probably won’t excite everyone. As big as they once were, the latest doesn’t seem to be getting much buzz. NME likes it anyway.

Six years in the making, Time Skiffs is out today from Animal Collective. Entertainment Weekly says “These nine songs are the most inviting and accessible Animal Collective have been in more than a decade.” So if you prefer the mellower side of Animal Collective to the more experimental, this one might be up your alley.

Also today, the awkwardly named Slash feat. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators release their fourth album. It’s called 4. It’s Slash, you already know exactly how it sounds.

More releases:

Carpe Diem – Saxon
Pompeii – Cate Le Bon
Glitch Princess – yeule
Few Good Things – Saba
Dope Don’t Sell Themselves – 2 Chainz
Where Myth Becomes Memory – Rolo Tomassi
Lighten Up – Erin Rae
A Dream About Death – Circa Survive

Singles

Red hot drop from Red Hot Chili Peppers. They have officially announced their new album Unlimited Love and dropped their new single, Black Summer. Sounds very Red Hot Chili Peppery.

Liam Gallagher has a new track with Dave Grohl. It’s not far out of his comfort zone.

Machine Gun Kelly featuring WILLOW? Whatever!

Halestorm’s if you’re into female fronted metal bands. They have a new album coming out in May.

Arch Enemy anyone?

Twin Temple has a fun new single out, Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy.

Nova Twins have been getting some buzz, even making the top of KERRANG. Sounds interesting.
