Songs of the Year
Songs of the Year: 1969
It’s 1969… nice… and the summer of love is dead. Change and Led Zeppelin are in the air as the debauchery of the 1970s looms large.
The year is 1969 and we’re picking our favorite songs of the year.
It’s a simple concept. We pick five of our favorite songs that made the Billboard Top 100 (established in 1958) during any time that year. We also select five “wildcards” that can be any songs released as a single or on an album or EP that year. Finally, we also pick our “worst” song of the year, just for fun.
We started in 1958 and we’re going until we run out of years.
The summer of love is dead. Music is getting heavy. Change is in the air. But we’re still nominating the Beatles, Stones and Dylan. A little band named Led Zeppelin releases two albums, the Beatles do Abbey Road, Stones Let it Bleed. It’s another year just absolutely jam packed with classic albums and classic songs.

Standings So Far
Jason again picked a Beatles song, going with Happiness is a Warm Gun. It won again. Apparently the viewers will vote for literally anything the Beatles put out. Glen Campbell’s Wichita Lineman and The Band’s Tears of Rage got robbed! Can Jason put himself in a commanding lead with another win in 1969? All he has to do is nominate another Beatles song… can he do it? Let’s find out.
Jason: 6.5
Joe: 4
Kramzer: 3.5
