Scandinavians rejoice, new albums from Ghost and Jenny Hval are here!

The new Ghost is here! Impera, the Swedish metal band’s fifth studio effort has dropped and apparently they’ve gone POWER BALLAD. Kerrang is digging it, but they’re legally obligated to do so. Check back this weekend for a review from yours truly.

Speaking of Scandinavia, Norwegian art-pop artist Jenny Hval’s latest is getting strong reviews. Pitchfork gives it an 8.0–which THEY are legally obligated to do. Classic Objects is out today, it’s her eighth solo affair.

Australian artist Alex Cameron is out with Oxy Music, an album of conceptual synthpop. 23-year-old artist Rex Orange County drops Who Cares. NME designated “next UK rock heroes” The Mysterines debut with Reeling. Apparently grunge-rock is back.

Franz Ferdinand released their greatest hits showcase Hits to the Head, surprisingly it’s more than 1 track long. It’s 20 songs, including two new songs “Billy Goodbye” and “Curious”.

Finally, for all you Canadians out there, Bryan Adams’ 15th studio album So Happy It Hurts is out today. Produced by Adams and Mutt Lange, it follows 2019’s Shine a Light, which was the recipient of the Juno Award for “Best Adult Contemporary Album” in 2020. Classic Rock gives it 3.5 stars!

Singles

Most singles aren’t 18-minutes long. But most bands aren’t King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard either. The Dripping Tap is the EP-length debut single from their upcoming double album Omnium Gatherum.

Florence + The Machine premiered a new song called My Love and confirmed they have a new album coming out. Dance Fever is out May 13th.

The Black Keys will be returning soon with some new music (not old blues covers). Here’s the first track from the upcoming Dropout Boogie.

Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa have a new song out called Sweetest Pie. That’s it. That’s the description.

Not sure if anyone is pining for new music from Alanis Morissette, but here’s some anyway.
