It’s a light week featuring some indie favorites, a not well known in the US prog band, and not a whole lot else.

We had a bumper crop of new releases last week from artists across the musical spectrum. This week a couple of delayed albums finally drop, plus some new ones from old indie favorites.

First the delayed albums: Band of Horses’ Things Are Great was supposed to come out a few weeks ago, it didn’t. But now it is (unless it gets delayed again between when I’m writing this and Friday morning. It’s the first for the band since 2016’s Why Are You OK?

Guided By Voices have a new album out, it’s their first since… October of last year, which was their second of 2021. They have a lot of albums. In fact, nobody really knows how many studio albums they really have. It might be 34. This newest one is called Crystal Nuns Cathedral.

Stereophonics have never been critical darlings but they’re looking to break the streak with Oochya! Their first since 2019 and 12th overall.

Ignorance was one of the best regarded albums of 2021, and now The Weather Station is back with another studio release that was written during the same time period. How Is It That I Should Look At the Stars is getting good reviews.

They may not be the most popular band in America, but Marillion have been cultivating a dedicated worldwide fanbase for years and remain quite popular. An Hour Before It’s Dark is the band’s 20th full length.

CMAT’s album may have come out last week, but it wasn’t on streaming services, so does it really count? You can get If My Wife Knew I’d Be Dead from Rough Trade if you’re into the whole physical media thing. You can also stream it on the usual suspects.

This isn’t totally new, but Tool have released an expanded version of Opiate for the EPs 30th anniversary.

Singles

Ghost has revealed another track from their forthcoming album. It’s a little different than what we’ve heard from Ghost in the past. Ghost impresario Tobias Forge described it as “Slayer meets some kind of Missy Elliott thing” in an interview with Kerrang!

Pixies have released a new single (and music video). The band will be on tour starting March 15th.

Charli XCX may end up revealing the entire album before it officially releases if she puts out any more singles. Here’s Baby.

Festivals and Tours

Glastonbury looks pretty good.

Kanye’s lost it?
