We’re back!

It’s 2009 and Lady Gaga is the only artist that matters.

That may be a simplification of things, but she sure is popular right now. Although, you could make the case that the most popular band in existence in 2009 were The Black Eyed Peas, who were #1 and #4 on the year end charts with Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling. Gaga was #2 and #3 with Poker Face and Just Dance… she also had the #35 (LoveGame) and #53 (Paparazzi).

Everyone else was playing for second, including Taylor Swift, Flo Rida, Beyonce, Kanye West, The All-American Rejects and Jason Mraz.

THE RULES: It’s a simple concept. We pick five of our favorite songs that made the Billboard Top 100 (established in 1958) during any time that year. We also select five “wildcards” that can be any songs released as a single or on an album or EP that year. Finally, we also pick our “worst” song of the year, just for fun.

We started in 1958 and we’re going until we run out of years.

Standings So Far …

Kanye got killed (in the voting), which says a lot more about you voters than it does Joe. The winner? Kramzer and his choice of Indie pop stalwart Vampire Weekend’s Oxford Comma. This week it’s Jason with a first name, last name selection facing off against Kramzer’s favorite band and the other pop star that mattered in 2009.

Joe: 22
Jason: 19.5
Kramzer: 15.5
